Beach Stone Totems

This is an activity I highly recommend for the lazy summer afternoons. In the hours when it was unbearably hot we usually retreated in the coolness of the house and dived into crafts and reading books.

For this activity we collected stones at the beach. We searched for particular ones - thin, flat and  elliptic because I wanted us to make totems.

We used tempera paints and consulted thistolearn about Native American Totems and their meaning.

What a fun idea, love how you transformed your stones into small pieces of art Maya. Hope you had a wonderful birthday!

A very creative idea for the children to cool off and invest a bit of time with crafting and learning Maya xx
